Joanna Ambroz
Unspoken meanings and embarrassing thoughts. Joanna Ambroz works in painting, art research, poster design, and books in a total sense. Her works explore taboo topics, relationships, pleasures, and the discomforts that arise from confronting oneself. Simplicity and conciseness are crucial to her: to express profound ideas through metaphor. The essence.
Her PHD, Come, I'll Show You My Knives, has been nominated for the prestigious Prix Bob Calle in Paris, included in the collection of the National Museum in Poznań, presented at the international Method/Art seminar at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and distinguished in the Most Beautiful Polish Book of the Year 2023 competition in the Literary Fiction category (2024). It has also received a nomination in the Project of the Year 2023 competition in the Impact category.
She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice—PhD (2023), Master’s degree (with the Rector’s distinction, 2018), and Bachelor’s degree (with the Rector’s Medal, 2016). Currently, she is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Siedlce,
where she leads her own diploma studio for Multidisciplinary Projects.
