Alex Traterrestre
Alex Traterrestre is a French artist of Italo-Reunionese origin, born in 1992. After studying product design and gaining diverse professional experiences, art became an undeniable calling in his life. Throughout years of personal exploration, none of the careers he pursued truly suited him. His constant search for freedom naturally led him to refocus on what he knew how to do best and independently—drawing.
For the past two years, he has dedicated himself entirely to his art, expressing his ideas through innovative concepts. His 3D paintings have the unique ability to be illuminated, making them functional both day and night. Nighttime holds a special source of inspiration for him, which is why he sought to make his works visible even when daylight fades.
When a light is turned on to illuminate a room, the result is similar to that produced by daylight. However, when a canvas emits its own light, it presents a completely different image, even in darkness. This diversity is what fascinates the artist—expanding the realm of possibilities within a single, fixed image, or even beyond.
Some of his creations also have the ability to produce smoke, transforming a traditionally static image into a dynamic one as the smoke escapes. This smoke carries a scent, allowing viewers to experience the artwork not only visually but also through their sense of smell.
The Cyberpunk universe is his primary inspiration. He strives to make his works timeless by incorporating elements of the past into futuristic settings. He deliberately distorts perspectives to emphasize the vastness of his scenes, reminding viewers of humanity’s smallness in comparison.
He is particularly drawn to the idea of redefining the rules of our world. The dark atmospheres of Gotham and Watchmen inspire him greatly, and Dr. Manhattan fascinates him. Urban music and sports also hold a significant place in his creative influences.
